When They Ask: Parent Answer Guide
For the question you didn’t see coming.
Your 7-year-old asks “Where did God come from?” over breakfast. This guide gives you three sentences to read out loud, a verse to back them up and the page of the book to open together.
What’s inside (22-page PDF)
- 40 answer cards, four to a page with cut lines. Each one has the child’s question, a short answer written for ages 6 to 9, an NLT verse and a follow-up for when they push further.
- The hard ones: 8 pages for the questions that come with tears, like what happens when someone they love dies, or whether their dog will be in heaven. Each page covers what they’re really asking, what to say, what to avoid, a verse and a short prayer.
- A better picture for the Trinity, for parents who’d rather not use water, ice and steam.
A real card from the guide
“Where did God come from?” Nobody made God. Everything else had a beginning, but God didn’t. Before the stars, before the world, before anything, God was already there. Psalm 90:2
If they push further: “So who made God?” Nobody. That’s part of what makes Him God.
How to use it
Print the cards on card stock, cut them out and keep them in the kitchen drawer or the glove box. Read the hard ones yourself first, so you’re ready when they come.
